Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been around for over 2,500 years.  Yet, in only the past 30 years has the U.S. started to take advantage of this medical system for its health care needs.  Come learn about what exactly is acupuncture and what makes up Chinese medicine, like, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, moxabustion and tui na (Chinese medical massage).  Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) is a growing $33 billion industry.  We will also cover how Western medicine and acupuncture work well together and why more people are seeking out alternative therapies.

Perhaps you have seen it on Oprah, the Today Show, and Dr. Oz, or maybe you have a friend who's tried it.  Or you could be one of the 3.1 million Americans who already receive acupuncture.  Come learn why increasing numbers of people are incorporating acupuncture and Chinese medicine into their health care every year and find out what it can treat, how it works, what it feels like and how this complete medical system has developed over the past 2,500 years.  Find out how acupuncture and Chinese medicine work very well with traditional Western medicine and by adding it to your existing health care you can optimize you and your family's health.

In addition to acupuncture, we will also go over various other treatments like cupping, Chinese herbal medicine, E-stim,gua sha, moxabustion, and Tui Na (Chinese medical massage).  If there is interest a Tui Na and/or acupuncture demonstration will be given.

Christopher Lee (C '03) is a California Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) and Chinese herbalist.  He earned a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco.  He also completed the International Training Program in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Tui Na (Chinese medical massage) at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China.  Christopher graduated from Penn with a BA in Health in Societies and currently practices in Walnut Creek, CA.
