Roy Vagelos is Retired Chairman and CEO of Merck & Co., Inc.  He received an AB in 1950 from the University of Pennsylvania and an MD in 1954 from Columbia University.  Following a residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, he joined the National Institute of Health where from 1956-66 he served as Senior Surgeon and then Section Head of Comparative Biochemistry.  In 1966 he became Chairman, Department of Biological Chemistry, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and in 1973 founded the University's Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences.  He joined Merck Research Laboratories in 1975 where he was president until 1985 when he became CEO and later Chairman of the company.  He retired in 1994.
 
Dr. Vagelos is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society.  He has received many awards in science and business as well as 14 honorary doctorates.  In the past he was Chairman of the Board of the University of Pennsylvania, a member of The Business Council and The Business Roundtable, and served on the boards of TRW, McDonnell Douglas, Estee Lauder and Prudential Finance.  He also served as Co-chairman of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and President and CEO of the American School of Classical Studies in Athens.

He is currently Chairman of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and Theravance, two biotech companies.  He is also Chairman of the Board of Visitors at Columbia University Medical Center where he also chairs the Capital Campaign.  He serves on a number of public policy and advisory boards, including the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and the Danforth Foundation.

Martin Babler is President and CEO of Talima Therapeutics, Inc., a position he has held since December of 2007. From 1998 to 2006 he worked at Genentech where he served as Vice President of Immunology Sales and Marketing, Senior Director of Commercial Development and Director of Cardiovascular Marketing. Prior to joining Genentech, Mr. Babler held various roles of increasing responsibility in sales, sales management, marketing and business development with Eli Lilly and Company. Mr. Babler is a faculty member of the BioExec Institute, a BioPharma Executive Education series at the Haas School of Business and he is a director of Infinity Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Babler holds a degree in Pharmacy from the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland and has attended the Executive Development Program at Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Guido Lanza is the President and CEO of Numerate. Guido was the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Pharmix, where he also managed the Applications Group, served on the company's Board of Directors for five years and was named one of Business Week's "Tech's Best Young Entrepreneurs under-30" in 2006. Prior to Pharmix, Guido was a research scientist with Professor Koza of Stanford University with whom he developed applications of genetic programming in the area of bioinformatics and computational biology. Guido is the author of 10 scientific publications and inventor of 4 issued patents. He received B.A.s in Molecular and Cell Biology and in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics from the University of Manchester (UK).

John Walker has served as CEO of iPierian since February 2009. Most recently, Walker served as chairman and CEO of Novacea, which merged with Transcept Pharmaceuticals in January 2009. Walker has also been executive chairman and principal executive officer of Renovis Inc.; chairman and interim CEO of Guava Technologies, KAI Pharmaceuticals and Centaur Pharmaceuticals; and chairman and CEO of Bayhill Therapeutics. From 1993 to 2001, he was chairman and CEO of Arris Pharmaceuticals and its successor corporation AXYS Pharmaceuticals Inc., and previously was chairman and CEO of Vitaphore Corporation. Walker began his career with American Hospital Supply Corporation, where he last served as President of the American Hospital Company. His many board experiences have included serving as chairman of Signal Pharmaceuticals and Microcide Pharmaceuticals Inc., and a director of Geron Corporation, Discovery Partners Inc., and several other private companies. Walker received a B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is a graduate of the Advanced Executive Program, J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Affymax, Inc., Transcept Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and a couple of private companies.
