Every year, the Penn Club of Northern California awards Book Scholarships to current students from the Bay Area. For each paid membership, $5 goes towards the program and contributes to the education of a local Penn student. The awards recipients must reside in the Bay Area and are selected by the University of Pennsylvania following Ivy League policies for scholarship eligibility.

2012 - 2013 Recipients

Guanyuan Chung
Class of 2013, College of Arts and Sciences, Majoring in Economics with Minors in International Relations and Classical Studies. Guanyuan is from Mountain View.

Jessica Guzman
Class of 2015, College of Arts and Sciences. Jessica is from Stockton.

Kendrick Chow
Kendrick thanks our local alumni for their support. She is studying Engineering and is from San Francisco.

Ronald Martin
Class of 2014, College of Arts and Sciences studying Logic, Information and Computation. He is active in Penn's branch of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, Vice President of Communications for the Penn Philippine Association and works at Penn as a Helpdesk Manager and IT Technician. Ronald is from South San Francisco and attended St. Ignatius College Prep.

Peter "Bear" St. Michael
Freshman in the Class of 2016, College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Mathematics. He played football, judo and track and field in high school and walked onto the heavyweight crew team at Penn. His career goals are to gain a graduate degree in education, hopefully at Penn, to be a teacher and eventually start his own school.

Greyson Abid
Greyson is a junior the College, majoring in philosophy. He is particularly interested in the nature of consciousness and the philosophy of personal identity. Greyson attended York School in Monterey.

Class of 2008, College. Sunnyvale, CA 94089. Aneta is a junior pursuing pre-med as an architecture major. She is active in dorm government, community service, and is a Resident Assistant. Aneta is from Sunnyvale and attended Fremont High where she played basketball and volleyball.

David Livaskio
Class of 2008, Wharton. San Francisco, CA 94122. David is a junior in Wharton, majoring in actuarial science and finance. He is from San Francisco and attended the French-American School.

Ao (Arthur) Xu
Class of 2010, SEAS. Santa Clara, CA 95051. Arthur is a freshman studying engineering and is involved in Engineering Without Borders, Reach a Peer Help-line, and ballroom dancing. He attended Wilcox High in Santa Clara.


Yulia Rivelis
Class of 2008, College. Yulia is from San Francisco and attended SF University High. A junior, Yulia is pre-med majoring in Spanish. She is a captain on Penn's tennis team and was selected first team all-ivy in both singles and doubles.
